Who are the GTA Shutterbugs?

The Territory Shutterbugs is a gathering of Territory residents who have an interest in the photographic and cinematic arts. It includes all skill levels, from amateurs to advanced photographers who shoot film, digital images and create videos. We share our work, our knowledge and learn from each other. Some of us print our work, make books, videos or just carry our work on our phones to share as we like. While some of the photos are produced for others, most of us produce them for ourselves and families.

Our members shoot everything from high end cameras, to point and shoot cameras or just the camera in our cell phones. What binds us is the interest we have in and the enjoyment we get from whatever and however we shoot.

If you have an interest in photography or video, could use some help getting to whatever your next step is, have knowledge or skills that you can share, just want answers to some questions or help with your equipment, this is where to come. Please join us.

Meetings

The club gathers at 8:30 a.m., the second Saturday of each month, in the Lower Level Conference Room at the Owner's Club. That room is sometimes referred to as the Old Real Estate Office. It is the first room to the left of the restrooms on the lower level.

We will have an educational component at each meeting. These will be presented either by a club member, guest speaker or by showing a video focusing on some specific facet of photography. (Next agenda not posted yet.)

As a photo club, in addition to taking and sharing photos, we look forward challenging ourselves by photographing things that we normally would not think to shoot. To address this, a list of topics is published on this site in advance, along with the month in which they will be reviewed (see the "Challenges" tab for a list of monthly photo topics.) During this section of the meeting members can also share other photos they feel will be of interest or they just want to discuss. We learn by discussing the photos, seeing how others view and interpret these topics and sharing our views.

In addition to monthly meetings, photo outings will be scheduled from time to time. Often we take field trips to scenic places in and around The Territory. Past excursions have taken us to Mississippi Palisades State Park, downtown Galena, Galena Falls Park and Murphy’s Gardens.

We’re fun and a tad disorganized, but we are dedicated to helping all our members enjoy the art of photography.
